Training Timeline

  1. Application

    January 16th, 2014

Get an application in and begin working with your recruiter. Application processing for approval takes about a week on average. Prior to attending our training program, we will need you to get a DOT physical (longform), acquire your Medical Card and Class A CDL Permit in your home state. You will need to know general knowledge, combination, and air brakes for the permit test.

You will need to bring your longform physical, medical card, Class A permit, birth certificate (with raised seal), social security card, and regular driver’s license the first day of orientation. You are responsible for your own dinners, so be sure to bring enough to cover the cost of dinners for the week. We strongly encourage you to pack light for your training, as you will be sharing a truck with your trainer (sheets or sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, change of clothes, toiletries, medications, nonslip shoes, etc.) If you do not wish to travel to our terminal with these items, you will have the opportunity to purchase them once you arrive.

  2. On-boarding

    February 28th, 2014

We pay for a bus ticket over to our terminal in either Missoula, MT or Springfield, MO. If you prefer to fly or drive, we can reimburse you up to the amount of the bus ticket we would originally purchase (whichever is the lesser of the two). You will be at our terminal for about a week before we get you on the road with a trainer. During this time, we cover the cost of your hotel, breakfast, and lunch.

We will complete your drug/alcohol test once you get to our terminal. You will have a 2-day grace period from the day you arrive to sign a 1-year contract (to cover the cost of training). Due to updated DOT regulations, students onboarding in MT will need to retake the permit test in the state of MT when they arrive at our terminal. Students onboarding in MO do not have to retest. The remainder of your time at the terminal will consist of driving practice (shifting, ally docking, backing, 90 degree turns, etc.) and some classroom time (instruction, simulator, computer). We have small class sizes every week, so you will have plenty of one-on-one time with your trainer.

  3. CDL Permit Driving

    March 20th, 2014

You will go over-the-road for 2-3 weeks with a professional CDL instructor for training and real-world experience. While OTR with your trainer, you have the option to pull out $200 advances weekly. If you choose to pull the advances, they will be paid back through weekly installments of $25 once you begin licensed driving.

  4. CDL Exam

    May 20th, 2014

After 2-3 weeks of permit driving, we route you and your trainer back to our terminal to take your CDL exam for your Class A CDL. We will then route you back home with the appropriate paperwork to get your CDL transferred over to your state. If your residency is in IL, you will be routed back to IL to take your CDL exam.

  5. CDL Team Driving

    July 9th, 2014

Once you receive your Class A CDL, you continue training over-the-road as a team with a professional CDL instructor for 30,000 miles. This 30,000 is for all miles on the truck. You will work directly with your fleet manager learning the freight network and operating as a professional truck driver. During this time, you will be paid.

Pay is guaranteed by cents per mile (cpm) or a weekly minimum, whichever is the greater between the two. The first 10,000 miles, you are paid 12 cpm or a minimum of $600 every week. The last 20,000 miles, you are paid 14 cpm or a minimum of $700 every week. Home time for OTR drivers is typically every 3-4 weeks for 3-4 days. This schedule is a little more sporadic during training due to different home locations and how quickly the student/trainer wants to complete the required 30,000 miles. This program typically takes 3 months to complete.

  6. Solo Company Driver

    August 30th, 2014

Once you complete the 30,000 miles of team driving with your trainer, we route you back to the terminal to get you into your own truck! Your 1-year contract will begin. We offer OTR for all the lower 48 states. If you live in the Western 10 states, you will have the option to run our Western 10 Regional fleet.

We have a friendly pet and rider policy. Our passenger policy allows 1 passenger on board at all times as long as they are over the age of 10 and not pregnant. Our pet policy allows 2 pets on board.
